The upcoming Gilmen St. BEER CITY SHOWCASE which was suppose to be on Feb. 22 is CANCELLED. The lineup was to include touring acts Red Flag 77 from the U.K., Very Metal from St. Louis, Remission from Milwaukee, Deface and Oppressed Logic from the Bay Area...
Excuse for the cancelation? That a lot of graffiti has been done to the place lately.
You gotta ask the question, have these people ever paid attention to the crowds at punk shows? Punk is Punk, no one can stop what is to happen, people like to fuck around and smash there drunken bodies into one another, its the fun thing to do. It is guessed that the reason this show was cancelled is because of the word "BEER" in the title of the showcase... Boozin' and Moshin' go hand in hand and by cancelling one show with the name "BEER" in it is not going to get a message out to this audience to not drink at shows. What really gets me is that there is a straight edge show coming up that has not been cancelled, ever attend a straightedge show? Those are some violent fuckers who try to leave there little 'straight edge revenge' marks everywhere... Whatever.
Also there has not been a fight or anything of that sort since O.L was unbanned last year, just a shit load of fun crazy shows with great turn outs... And a place complains?
Whatever has happened with other bands recently are exactly that OTHER BANDS, so why punish this upcoming show just for those reasons? Why punish those who don't deserve it?
They helt a meeting on Jan.19th to discuss this I guess, I don't live there, so I couldn't go of course. The three bands that were touring have postponed there tour till April anyways, so no show.
